São José dos Pinhais (Paraná, Brazil)

By the law number 20 of September 3rd, 1971,  the flag of São José dos Pinhais was created with the following characteristics: composed of a quadrilateral blue, at the centre the municipal coat of arms containing a pine tree surrounded by a gear in a sky blue on a light green filed. At the right side of the coat there is a mate herb branch and at left a wheat field. At the top of the coat there is a white banner reading: MUNICÍPIO DE and at the bottom, another white banner reading - S. JOSÉ DOS PINHAIS. 08 DE JANEIRO and DE 1853 are divided in two banners at the very bottom, with a white branch between them.
City: São José dos Pinhais
State: Paraná
Country: Brazil
My Commentary: São José dos Pinhais is a Curitiba in a small proportion. The way the city is organised is very similar, it's an urban city and there are some historical places to visit, but one end up going to Curitiba for tourism considering the geographical approximation of these two cities.

History of São José dos Pinhais: The creation of the municipality of São José dos Pinhais was made through the Law No. 10 of the then province of São Paulo, on July 16, 1852, which specified that the headquarters of the city would be called Villa of São José dos Pinhais, and the political establishment, with the installation of the City Council occurred on January 8, 1853. On December 27, 1897, the village was finally elevated to city status. (Wikipedia)

Anthem of São José dos Pinhais:
Aprroved by law number 02 on April 08 1986
Lyrics: Francisco Pereira da Silva
Melody: Rodolfo Krüeger

As tuas glórias, unidos, cantemos
nesta terra festiva e gentil
e teus grandes heróis celebremos
nós que somos de estirpe viril!

Estribilho
Venerável relicário,
Salve, salve, dileto rincão
pois que és um sublime sacrário,
de fiel nobreza e tradição!

Este amor proclamemos bem alto,
com sincero, expressivo calor,
oh! Princesa feliz do Planalto,
solo augusto de graça e valor.

Que cidade mais doce e risonha,
onde achar, bem melhor do que tu?
se és a deusa formosa que sonha,
junto às margens do manso Iguaçu!

Do futuro seguindo áureos trilhos,
tu, mais forte e mais bela serás
pelo honesto labor de teus filhos,
sempre afeitos à ordem e à paz!

Por tua causa daremos a vida,
e olvidar te, por certo, jamais.
Salve, terra formosa e querida.
São José, São José dos Pinhais!

My Commentary: This was my first time in São José dos Pinhais, I went there to visit a friend and one of the things that impressed me was the price of a barbecue meal, which is a lot cheaper than in São Paulo. It's a nice place to live, urban but at the same time not crazily crowded.

Trip 2014: São Paulo e Sul (Southern Brazil)

São Paulo e Sul - Coat of arms

My Commentary: I will sum it for now, after about 10 years without visiting our little house in Ilha Comprida, I finally went there with my family. Once there I had the ambitious idea of visiting my friends in the South of Brazil, since Ilha Comprida is in the South of São Paulo. At the end the plan worked better than I thought and I visited many places going by bus and then returning from the extreme South to my town by air plane. The list above follows the sequence of the route I did. It's possible to click in all the towns and get information and photos:

São Paulo

Paraná

Santa Catarina

Rio Grande do Sul

Here below there is a picture with some stuff I brought from all the places I visited.

Curitiba - Trip 2014

My Commentary: After taking a bus in the very morning from Ilha Comprida to Registro, I took another bus which would take me to Curitiba. The bus stopped in Pariquera-Açu, Jacupiranga, Cajati and then after more than 3 hours I arrived to my destination. That was my second time in Curitiba but first time that I could know it better. With my friend Vanessa I explored many parts of the city and realised that there are really many things to see and visit, it's huge but an organised town, a unique organisation in comparison to the Brazilian pattern.
